Puri Beach Festival

Puri Beach Festival is celebrated annually in early November, in Puri. Orissan craft, cuisine and cultural evenings are the highlights of the event. Taking a cue from the popular Goa festival, the current Puri Beach festival has included fashion shows and rock shows to attract tourists. The festival held on the beautiful beach at Puri.

Hotel Gajapati - Chandan Yatra
Chandan Yatra

There, in their Garden House, adapa mandapa, also known as their place of birth, the deities stay for seven days. On the ninth day of the festival, Bahuda Jatra, the grand return journey takes place. On the way back they stop for a short while and partake of poda pitha, a type of cake made of rice, lentils, jaggery and coconut, offered by their aunt, mausima.

Rath Yatra

Ratha Jatra, the Festival of Chariots of Lord Jagannatha is celebrated every year at Puri, the temple town in Orissa, on the east coast of India. The presiding deities of the main temple, Sri Mandira, Lord Jagannatha, Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, with the celestial wheel Sudarshana are taken out from the temple precincts.
